Review of "By My Choice" by Christine Blackthorn

By My Choice by Christine Blackthorn

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Christine Blackthorn has a gift for creating characters that stick with you long after you've finished reading and make you long for more. And more.

This story starts out with a betrayal of the worst kind, and, before she knows it, financial manager Jennifer Ashton's rigidly controlled life is turned upside down when she finds herself in Paris with a new Master and a new set of rules.

A definite must read for all supernatural romance readers. Heck, even if you're not into one or the other, you'll love it. The plot line in this story is intriguing and inventive, and Christine Blackthorn entwines the romantic and supernatural elements with skill, leaving you breathless with anticipation in more ways than one.

I will definitely look for more from this author.

The One Who Got Away: Erotic Romance for Women
Editor: Kristina Wright
Publisher: Cleis Press
Submission Deadline: May 15
Payment: $50 per story and 2 copies of the book, on publication
E-mail: onewhoanthology@gmail.com
The theme for this collection is about lost love, second chances, reunion stories and lovers reunited through chance or determination. Does love and lust stand the test of time? In this anthology it does! Whether it’s bumping into each other on the street or reconnecting on Facebook, these lovers find that the memories are still sweet and a shared history makes for some very erotic reconnections.
According to Romance Writers of America, a romance must include two key elements: a central love story and an emotionally-satisfying, optimistic ending. In erotic romance, the sexual component is critical to the development of the romantic relationship. To get an idea of what I’m looking for, I strongly recommend reading my previous erotic romance anthologies.
The collection will be primarily heterosexual with a female audience in mind. However, stories may include bisexual or lesbian encounters as well as polyandrous relationships or group encounters. I have a preference for realistic stories with contemporary settings for this series, but any time period will be considered. No incest, nonconsensual sex, bestiality or underage characters, please.
Please be sure to follow all of the submission guidelines: I will consider up to two stories per author. Unpublished stories only, no simultaneous submissions. Please do not send me a story that is being considered elsewhere. The desired story length is 2,500-5,000 words. Double-space and indent the first line of each paragraph.  Do not put extra spaces between paragraphs. Include your full contact information (legal name/pseudonym, mailing address and phone number) and a bio of 50 words or less written in the third person.  Please paste your story into the body of your e-mail and attach it as a Microsoft Word .doc file. Send your submission to onewhoanthology@gmail.com with Submission: Story Title in the subject line.  Please direct any questions to the same address. The deadline is May 15, but earlier submissions are very much appreciated.
Payment will be $50 per story and 2 copies of the book upon publication.  Contributors retain the rights to their work and Cleis Press has final approval over the stories selected for the book. Authors will be notified upon approval of the manuscript from the publisher. If you have not received a response by October 1, please feel free to query me.

Best Erotic Romance 2014 ~ Call for subs

Best Erotic Romance 2014
Editor: Kristina Wright
Publisher: Cleis Press
Submission Deadline: April 15
Payment: $50 per story and 2 copies of the book, on publication
E-mail: besteroticromance2015@gmail.com
Best Erotic Romance 2015 is the fourth edition in the annual series featuring erotic romance fiction by some of the best authors in the industry. Earlier editions were well-reviewed in Publishers Weekly and RT Book Reviews and I am once again looking for the very best stories in the genre for this collection.
According to Romance Writers of America, a romance must include two key elements: a central love story and an emotionally-satisfying, optimistic ending. In erotic romance, the sexual component is critical to the development of the romantic relationship. To get an idea of what I’m looking for, I strongly recommend reading the three previous editions of Best Erotic Romance.

Playing Dirty ~ Erotic stories about games ~ Call for Subs

Playing Dirty: Erotic Stories About Games
Edited by Cosmin Alexander
Deadline: February 15, 2014.
Games are an eternal part of human civilization, from the Egyptian game of Senet up through Second Life. Our definition of a game is broad and varied, and sex is no different. Courtship is often framed as a game, a strategic maneuvering of pieces, every gesture important. And the bedroom is a perfect place for games, from simple favorites like spin the bottle or truth or dare, to full on roleplaying sessions of dominance and submission. Games in the 21st century have also taken on a whole new meaning, as we encounter avatars in online gaming: anyone can be anyone, and identities blur, change, and reshape.
We’re looking for stories of games and sex. Perhaps: a 22nd century madame runs a virtual brothel in a massively multiplayer online game; a pair of ancient elven kings play their own form of strange fey-chess as part of an elaborate courtship ritual; a wizard’s game of riddles turns steamy. All stories must centrally feature some sort of game, be it a classic board game, a party game (pin the toy on your partner?), a tabletop roleplaying game (my paladin has a +2 holy dildo of orgasms!), or a video game. They must also feature some sort of science fiction or fantasy element, and, of course, lots and lots of delicious, steamy sex.
All sexualities and gender expressions are welcomed. (Please note: original characters and settings only.)
This ebook anthology is being edited by Cosmin Alexander for Circlet Press. Cosmin is a longtime staffer at Circlet Press and the editor of Like a Breath of Flame: Erotic Tales of Dragons.
For submission details, read on.
Length: Preferred length for this book is approximately 3000 to 6000 words, but we will consider the range from 2000 to 8,000 words. Query if you have something outside those ranges that seems otherwise fitting.
How to Submit: All submissions must be made via email to Cosmin Alexander, editor, at the following email address: cosmin.circletpress@gmail.com with the subject line “Games Anthology”.
Submissions sent to other addresses/other editors at Circlet Press will not be considered. Standard manuscript formatting rules apply even though sending as an attachment (MS Word .doc or .rtf preferred). Please note that this means your name, address, and email contact must appear on the manuscript itself and not simply in your email message. (If you’re not sure what standard short story submission format should look like, Google is your friend.)
No simultaneous submissions (that is, don’t also send your story elsewhere at the same time, and don’t send it to multiple Circlet editors, either), and no multiple submissions to the same book. One story per author per anthology, thanks.
All stories must include explicit sexuality and erotic focus. Romantic content is welcome, but in a short story remember to keep the details on the action and its effects on the main character’s internal point of view. We favor a strong, singular narrative voice (no ‘head hopping’ or swapping between different character’s points of view within a scene). For more details on our editorial preferences, see the general submission guidelines on circlet.com. We highly recommend reading the guidelines, especially the “do not send” list, to increase your chances of sending us something we’ll love. Try to avoid cliches. Fresh and direct language is preferred to overly euphemistic. Sex-positive, please, no rape/nonconsensuality/necrophilia or other purposefully gross topics. We do not publish horror.
Originals only, no reprints. We purchase first rights for inclusion in the ebook anthology for $25, with the additional rights to a print edition later which would also be paid $25 if a print edition happens. Authors retain the rights to the individual stories; Circlet exercises rights to the anthology as a whole.

Frustrated

I'm feeling very frustrated with my novel in progress right now, and I can't even decide why. Every time I sit down to write, I end up in la-la land and get nothing done. But when I'm at work, all I can think about is the scene I should have had written over a week ago. *Sigh* I'm thinking I'm going to blame it on being busy, but I know it can't be explained quite so easily. Ah, well. Keep plugging away.
